Why I Regret My Transition (Sometimes)
Regret is not detransition - image by the author

Gender-affirming care consistently shows lower rates of regret than almost every other medical procedure. Yet, the conservative narrative is often that even one "detransitioner" means we should ban care completely. The truth is somewhere in between.

In this stream, I’m diving into the nuances of regret after gender transition. Transition has been fabulous for me, but there are aspects I wish were different. It comes down to opportunity costs, not some pie-in-the-sky vision of human happiness no one ever achieves.

Yes, sometimes I regret having transitioned. But the whole truth is different.

I’ll be discussing:

- What "regret" really means in a medical and social context.
- Why opportunity costs are distinct from making a mistake.
- My personal experience navigating the "small disappointments" vs. the "big picture" joy.
